Here – The Possible is done. The Impossible is on the way. For Miracles, expect a 48 hour delay — Author Unknown.
Do you ever feel overwhelmed? Like you’re not quite sure how to achieve everything you want to, or be the person that you want to be? Today’s poster, translated from the original in French (unknown author), is one of the quotes that’s always plastered on my whiteboard. Actually, it keeps me energized when I seem to have too much going on!
How can you be sure that you don’t exhaust yourself from the stress? Well, I’m glad you asked! Today’s Motivational Monday post is on doing exactly that through the power of a positive attitude.
Defy The Impossible
Do some tasks just seem impossible? Well, I truly believe that most people who consider something impossible are simple not in the right mindset. Here are a few mental mantras I use to convince myself that anything is possible.
- You can do it, too. Just like they did. (“They” are those on a list of successful people whose names are on my whiteboard!)
- Power your whole body into it. Your whole mind. Your whole soul. Envision it. This is the one I use when I’m running, actually.
- Imagine the end goal. Visualize it.
Believe In Yourself
Well, without self-confidence, the possible will seem impossible.
Now, I definitely didn’t always have self-confidence. So, how do you get it? You work harder than you’ve ever worked before. Search for strategies. Look for successful people, idols, mentors and follow their journeys. Find a purpose that you want to fulfill. Then, find all the examples of success that you can.
Personally, I’ve done this for my blog. I started way back in July 2016 (even though I launched in November 2016). Abby Lawson’s e-book Building A Framework helped me immensely. Actually, she’s just launched a new version with an stellar course format you can check out here; the bundled ebook + course is on sale at a reduced price for the next few days. (Yes, this is an affiliate link, which means I make a small commission if you decide to buy it, but I honestly recommend Abby’s book. (I wouldn’t be an affiliate if I didn’t love it!) I really couldn’t have started my blog without it).
Strategies to Manage The Overwhelmed Feeling
Here are my top 3 strategies for coping when you’re feeling overwhelmed:
- Breathe. Believe in Yourself. Find a mantra and repeat it.
- Find Your Mentor. Remind yourself what they are doing. For me, these are my “Blogger Heroes”, as I like to call them
- Visualize. Defy the impossible, and visualize what you want. It is possible. Of course, some life events are out of our control. For everything else, we just need to visualize and believe.
Now, if you happen to be an English teacher or tutor with an entrepreneurial dream, and you need help with the organizational part, remember that I have a post here on 6 Simple Ways to Organize Your Teaching Resources. I’ve also got access to free organizational printables in my printables library, to help you out. Actually, I’ve even got a Free Course for English Tutors which breaks down steps of lesson planning, to keep you from feeling overwhelmed.
Well, those are a few of my tips on being less overwhelmed and keeping a positive attitude!
Have a lovely and productive Monday!
P.S. Photo fans, the photo of the ancient door is one I took on a Photo Walk in Sarria, Barcelona in the spring of 2016
